About CREEDS Living

I developed CREEDS Living in response to the struggles I had with loss and grieving, alcoholism, depression, and low self-esteem. Following my suicide attempt in 2010, I began the journey of rebuilding myself, almost from the ground up. I read, listened, discussed, reflected, analyzed, and researched some more. Constantly modifying and refining. The goal was self-discovery and wellness.

I realized that to feel well, to be both content and resilient, and to live the life I wanted to life, I needed physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. All of it. Just focusing on one aspect of my life wasn’t going to cut it. I began to think about my recovery plan as having six parts.

I also recognized that in order to go through the struggles of change and growth, it would require motivation from deep inside me. I needed to define what it was that was going to keep me pushing through. Creeds comes from the Latin word credo, which is derived from a variety of words meaning around “belief” and began to evolve in the 1500’s to mean something around “formula or statement of belief.” While it used to be associated with religion, it now has broadened into a more general personal belief system.

Within CREEDS Living, CREEDS is an acronym for those six parts of my life that I began to consider as I was working through personal growth. Connection, Reflection, Expression, Exercise, Diet, Sleep. By saying the word “creeds”, I hope to keep the why behind my actions front and center.

My goal with CREEDS Living is to provide information and insight around those six topics, and remind people to consider their own creeds.

As I continue on my journey of personal growth and finding wellness I will share the latest research, books, articles and thinking around the CREEDS. I will infuse my own personal experiences in the essays I share.

My hope is that I can help people with their own recovery, growth, and well-being.

Thank you so much for stopping by CREEDS Living!
